I never really appreciated the shape of the plane as a Midwest profile model. But in plastic, it sure does look sweet on the ramp, and in the air!

Now you have me wanting to do the Guillows Skyraider as a .020 CL job. I wish I could pick up a couple more .020 horseshoe backplates. Sigh...

Do you have the guillows kit already? What is the wingspan? The Midwest skyraider is one of several where the wing build is identical and the fuselage/tail are different.

The Guillows Skyraider is small, just like your Tiffie. The 500/900 series are all between 16-18" wingspans. There are a few construction method differences between the two small-plane series.

I'm a sucker for twins, and WWII small/medium bombers...think Avenger, Dauntless, B-25, B-26...

I have two 33" Midwest kits (Mustang and "the German One"), and plastics/plans for their 33" P-63. You are correct that they share family resemblances. I never really cared for the Skyraider until the last few years. I read the airplane is a beast, and can take a beating while still getting the pilot home. The depictions made me think A-10 Warthog. After reading some articles, my attitude softened. The final grab was reading that the Skyraider was developed from the WWII naval bombers, so I was hooked once I saw the familial resemblances.

PS...I'm a hoarder, plain and simple (or is it plane?). I have several large scale projects all requiring my time. I do hope to live to retirement so I can devote those working hours to childhood #2. Alas, the toys are getting the backseat for probably another few years. I have the engines, I have the kits, I have the plans...in fact, too many to count.

Oh, and I plan on using your foam core, balsa-skinned construction method for my small Stuka. I want this to be a tribute model for the first Cox model I laid eyes on back in, oh, 1970-ish. I would love to do the Skyraider the same way.
