on Medallion .051 Piston and cylinder
so after reading much about NFFS and such who knows the real answer about how many Cox Medallions there are with .051 piston/cylinders? I have at least 1, but there is no number on the casing.
Question: were there other Medallion .051 engines made and sold other than the NFFS engines or are they put together from other engine pieces? and was the Medallion venturi red only? thanks for any input. happydad

Hi HD
You're in danger of igniting a debate here........
I think apart from the 258 we all 'know' about, Tom (engine049) has a couple 'under the radar' versions.
I'm sure the guys your side will chip in as their coffee starts to kick in.
PS
I've got a piston for 1.........

Re: on Medallion .051 Piston and cylinder
Is the cylinder the twin slit version? Is the bottom exhaust slit larger than the top slit? If it is you have a killer bee 051 piston and cylinder on a medallion.

my medallion .051 cylinder is twin slit version. if anything the bottom slit is very slightly smaller than the top slit. i measured both sides with digital calipers. it is very hard to get inside the walls of the cylinder slit. also outside walls have been shaved so the exhaust sleeve fits over/under the cylinder.
i have a TD .051 with an original single exhaust port and a dual slit with a number 6 i believe. i may be mistaken . it's late. 5 or 6. it's somewhere in the garage. i'll verify tomorrow. but the medallion is definitely twin slit and this .051 piston measures .409 inch o.d., where .049 pistons are appx. .404 inch o.d. so what is it? a put-it-together-from-parts medallion .051?? thaanks for the comments. happydad

John: I think I've done it. Started a debate again. Was I a bad boy?? does your piston have 1 groove around the bottom edge or 2? I have another .051 piston I purchased fron cal-dan or esp-ex3460 on ebay a while back, but seems like I misplaced it. thanks for the feedback.

Re: on Medallion .051 Piston and cylinder
happydad send me your address in a pm Ill send you an official 051 medallion piston free of charge so we can get to the bottom this. the measurements on those pistons are way too percipience to use digital calipers. If the piston I send you fits perfectly, its official. If it does not, it's prob an 051 TD cylinder

re: medallion .051 to moderator and administrator - my apologies
My original intention of joing this cox engine forum was to get information on what the correct configuration should be for the Cox Medallion engine I purchased recently. I was not aware before this forum that the Cox Medallion was not made as a .051 engine for the masses. My Cox experience had been mostly with babe bee, golden bee, black widow, TD .049 and TD .051. As well as the Atwood outboard engines.
Anyway I was searching for information not trying to continue or renew any controversy over past details. So I would like to extend my apologies to all sides and renew my original intentions to get information from this forum regarding Cox engines.
Back to my original question. modified. Other than NFFS .051 Cox Medallion engines does anyone know how many .051 Cox Medallion engines there are? Or is it impossible to tell because of the interchangability of cylinders and piston sets between different Cox .049 and .051 engines?
I am not a history buff, I am just old. My intent is to see how genuine a Cox engine is before I purchase it and/or to verify what I can thru the sources I know of. I have seen the Cox engine website and wondered why certain engines were missing. I guess I know the answer now. Thank you all for your patience and mostly for your wealth of knowledge and information. happydad

Re: on Medallion .051 Piston and cylinder
There are none. there is no such thing as a 051 medallion.
There are only those made for beecrofs run. 2 hundred something
I only had 2 because I got a hold of cox research and development when cox tanked.
When they were making bob`s the lathe operator must have nabbed 2.
I also have a medallion 051 stamped with #7 with an unfinished bore. so he mush have kept taht 1 too

Actually the entire photo is there, it’s just partially hidden from view.
You can zoom out, say from 100% to 75% and see the entire pic, (but of course it may be too small to read )
Or left click on it and it should open in a full size window.
Or lastly you can right click on the photo and ‘save as’ to file. You will have the entire pic saved.
Photos are handled a bit different here than some other sites.
Al
PS I should add that I am using MS Internet Explorer.

I have some charts here, I'm going to try to get all the cylinder information for the rest of the engine sizes.
