I suggest a new topic for the Kyosho Beetle/Mini Cooper because it is different of the cox cars (but not less interesting).
Let us know, mine is a shelf queen at the moment.
The starter is a little bit annoying.

Hi all,

I just acquired a GTP from the 'bay.  Its a bare car, no electronics, wheels are very bald, and the body was a pretty rough hack job...but...it was only ~$65.  My first question is that when looking at the left rear of my car, it doesn't have a white plastic squar-ish thing sticking up between the engine and the left rear wheel...there's a short section of black tubing that is coming up out of the engine mount.  Am I missing a critical part (possibly of the intake)?

There are 2 versions of the GTP Nissan. One with the throttle ring exhaust and the later version with the Maples throttle. The Maples throttle had the intake EGR tower that stuck up from the back of the engine.

Sounds like you might be missing the white plastic spacer between the back of the engine backplate and the frame of the car or the Maples EGR stack.

Just to let folks know I have a lot of brand-new in-package replacement parts for the Nissan GTP car kit available if anyone is interested. I mostly have wheel assy sets and a number of suspension parts. Also have maybe 8 of the special No. 331 Gow Heads.

I will post images when I get a chance.

I just bought this Cox Nissan GTP and works perfect, it was difficult because I had not the zip cord but I got it; after many attempts and adjustments to the muffler and the servo control I could run it. It is very fast and I had to adjust the brake several times.

I like it, very good running car!! When your engine is running on idle and the car is standing still, is the brake always applied? or do you have to go with your transmitter stick a little the other way to pull on the brake?

Thank you, I use the stick to pull the brake, It's wrong? It's my first cox car I fly control line sience 1990 and I do not know much about cox cars.
Do you have any recommendations for the use of the car?

Yes very frustrating. I've had that happen a couple of times so now if I'm writing more than a couple of sentences I do it on a word document and then cut and paste it in.

Alejo, I am discovering all this at the same moment you do, but your car is running well as seen on the video and you must have the engine throttle and brake adjustments spot on. I assume your throttle control travel on the transmitter is from neutral pulling the stick, let’s say fully down and braking is from neutral pushing the stick slightly up. In this way, the brake band is pulled against the drum while the servo horn pushes against the spring on the throttle control linkage as the carb is already on idle and cannot be closed more. With this set up, the car freewheels in the neutral position without braking and one can blip the throttle without losing speed.

I found this super 8 recording with sound of an RC car race in 1976. At 6min 16 sec  you can see driver nr2 operating the transmitter He accelerates pushing the transmitter stick forward and brakes by pulling it back slightly

On your picture of the Nissan, I can’t see the loop in the throttle linkage that acts like a spring, see below picture from the Nissan instructions. Does your car brake automatically when you reach the idle?



I have to find out on my Jerobee how to get a good idle/brake set up. The speed is regulated by an exhaust throttle that is controlled by a linkage pivoting on a fulcrum. There is no way you can put a spring on that. What I can do is create a fast idle speed at the neutral position whereby the car is still freewheeling and go to the idle and braking mode by moving the stick the other way.

Enjoy your car. Do you know somebody to race against? Otherwise, gymkhanas are a good alternative and can be done solo.

Thanks, the car don't brake automatically when i reach the idle, if i want to brake have to pull the stick up and the throttle backs a little more, yesterday finally managed to adjust the idle position and the car doesn't move. But the time took its toll the steering arm broke in pieces, I need replacement part GTP 21 but I could not find anywhere to buy it, anyway I will repair the piece with epoxy. My car doesn't have mapples throttle system this car  it's an earlier version. And yes i have to race solo i think i'm the only one who likes cox here in Medellin in fact nobody here has these engines, well within flying radio control existing clubs there is none, and we are only eight we fly control line and none of them have these engines.

An update, Overlord thanks for the recommendation but the user who purchased the GTP 21 pieces says he already put them on his model, Thanks happydad I found on eBay a seller who sold me the parts and I'm waiting for them, for the moment finally back on track (epoxy fixed)

Garza when you order parts, you really order parts. Did you get a deal when you order everything at once?
   Also where did you find everything in one place? I found 3 or 4 parts here, then some parts in another place and I still don't have att all the axles, front end steering, etc. parts.
And 2 sets of wheels?

   Thanks for this view picture. It is hard to see from the instructions how things fit together in the engine area. Where is you pull starter, or do you have one? For the car engine I have the cylinder would have to lay sideways or horizontal>>>>.
