Automobiles you don't see everyday...

Neat, but 0 points for styling. Except for maybe the Golden Rocket.

It's funny to see what folks thought the future would look like.

This/these... are a Hudson, not far from where I live... I remember back 40 years ago, when this car had no rust. It was the creation of a local Hudson Dealer.

It had back-to-back bench seats and two dashboards/steering wheels! I believe that 1 axle was a differential... and that ends' "hood" was actually the "trunk"! It did not have street-legal lighting however... as; the front and back were identical. It was probably used in parades.



It was the "blue" color you can still see in spots, on the door(s)...

I believe I saw the same show... I tuned in when there was a segment on several dozen brand-new 1960's vintage vehicles, that were literally "put out to pasture" with little to no mileage; by a dealer out in Nebraska I think. There were several Chevrolet C-10 "Plain-Jane" pick-ups... a couple of 63 Impalas... They were going for unbelievable money... $140,000 for one of the vehicles.

I used to work for a guy by the name of Floyd Stillwell, owner of Stillwell ford in Craig Colorado. He would buy salvage title cars in Arizona, put clean titles on them in Colorado and sell them on the lot. So one day two mid eighties mercury cougars show up in the shop, one totaled in the front and the other totaled in the back. He had his auto body guy cut them in two and combine to make one car to be sold to an unsuspecting person in Colorado.

this car isn't a fake, in this area (French riviera) some road are so narrow that it's very difficult to do an U turn, so when the trees are burning and when you want to go as fast as possible, the best way is to go back, this car has two engines one is in neutral position when the other is in use, 4 speed forward, and 4 speed in reverse, but can you be in reverse ?

The 1st "stock" wheeled Eagle in the vid is pretty darn impressive!!!. I never knew that they climbed "that" well...

I bought this car as a "shell" in 1988... no motor/tranny. Factory engine was a 4.3L. (262 cu. in.) so the chassis had all the extra "boiler-plate" that GM welded-in, to beef-up the frt. end for the V8. A 5.0L. V8/350 turbo auto-transmission was dropped-in for power. What a job... mostly finding the rare brackets/pulleys for the water-pump, alternator and P.S. pump. A Holley 600 c.f.m. 4bbl. carb. with vacuum secondary's, "Don Hardy" 3-piece exhaust headers, elec. fuel pump/reg. and an Accel H.E.I ignition were the only high-performance engine modifications. A B & M "Quick-Silver" ratchet-shifter was already in the car when I bought it.

One LOUSY feature of GM's early "H" body cars, was their front-end. Camber adjustment was made by rotating a bushing in the control-arm that had an offset. These bushings would weather-seize and also were not adequate for the extra weight of a V8 engine. Chassis "sag" over time; created a condition where max. "positive" camber-adjustment would still yield "neg." camber angle. It was a LOT of fun to drive though!!!  John DeLorean is quoted as nicknaming the Monza 2 + 2; the "Italian Vega"... citing it's strong styling-resemblance to the Ferrari 365 GTC/4. The ideal power-plant for my Monza (if I still had it...) would be Buick's V6 3.8L. SFI/intercooled turbo, used in their Regal "T"-Type/Grand National... along with rack & pinion steering, 5-bolt 4-whl. disc brakes and a 12-bolt posi-traction rear diff.!!! Oh... if I could do it again!

It wasn't stock, Eagles didn't have low range. They had a vacuum actuated transfer case from 2wd to 4wd. I was planning on restoring/moding mine but didn't have the time or money when the engine blew. On top of that, parts then were getting extremely hard to find... ~10 years ago.

The AMC Concord was it's 2wd counter part. It shared like 90% of parts...
