Glow plug size¿¿??
Re: Glow plug size¿¿??
Thank you for your information!
I told him what happened to me, in my Cox Sportsman 0.15 engine, I have adapted a conventional glow plug, since the original engine had burned out, after a lot of use already with the adapted glow plug, I do not know if to over tighten or because Some of the threads of some glow plug are shorter, I damaged the thread of 1/4 x 32, for that reason the idea is to go to a larger diameter using the P4 of OS . For that reason I was in the search of information to evaluate if I can adapt it. Now I'm on my way to get the M8 x 0.75 male to do the job.
Again, thank you very much, when I have news, I will be sharing with you.
Greetings!!

Re: Glow plug size¿¿??
I don't think that you can easily adapt the head for a Turbo plug if has already been drilled and threaded for a regular glow plug. The Turbo plugs seal with the conical part at the very tip of it. This will need to mate against a corresponding conical area in the head. With a regular thread already in the head, this thread will then go right through the conical part. Perhaps not quite all the way, depending on how the conical part is made, but it will be very close...
I have thought several times that perhaps one could simply fill up the old threads with JB-weld and then make the Turbo plug mating surface. Once under load from the plug it might well be enough, but I have never tested it...
Best would be to use aluminium weld to fill up the old threads I guess, but that is not so easy to do well either...

Here is the original article about how to make your own turbo plug heads; AndyW
I have followed that for a few engines during the last ten years and it works well. Here is one I did for a VA .049 MkII RC, it now easily blows the socks of all my cox engines while still throttling well...
(it spins an APC 5.7x3 prop at around 19500rpm on 10% nitro)

That's a very good job! Thank you very much for this contribution. I'm going to have to locate a turner to see if he can make the piece! ....

If you don't get an answer here, consider starting your own thread. Someone certainly knows the answer to your question.

Re: Glow plug size¿¿??
I think the Atwood (non-Holland?) ones used a regular short reach plug?
A medium reach OS or Enya plug might work fine too though, just add an extra gasket for the glow plug.
