Tether car question
Going by the premise that this is the original Cox one from 1947?

Re: Tether car question
That's a beauty.
I can imagine going back in time and racing a car like that. Smoke, grease and rolling death. Sorry Bernie, I don't know. It just piqued my imagination.

Re: Tether car question
These were powered by imagination, a long stick and some string. LeRoy sold a bunch of the non-powered versions...probably to hook the poor kids into a later buying a real 'gas' job, and a life long addiction to nitro!

Yes, aware of that but am hoping this is the original version as opposed to the repros of later vintage. I ask because it sold for little money.

Re: Tether car question
Well, it's not a Nylint reproduction.
It doesn't say "Made in Santa Ana Calif" on the bottom, or maybe it did at one time as the writing doesn't look that sharp, it could've been blasted, buffed and repainted at some point in the past.
These early tether cars are not my strong area, better wait for someone who knows more (where's Mud?) (He beat me to it!)

Thanks
We never got to see it as it went straight to a customer of ours. He was thrilled at the excellent condition but I just wanted to make sure it was an original as, after he received it, we came across listings for repros, not knowing beforehand that they even existed.
