Vintage Cox .049 Ad
I just thought I'd share this with the group. I purchased this old magazine ad online years ago, framed it, and have had it on one of my knick-knack shelves ever since. I always thought it was pretty cool and figured no one in my life would appreciate seeing it as much as this group of Cox enthusiasts.

I agree! It would be cheaper to have done now that they can use digital printers instead of just screen printing. Generally the more colors you have the more expensive it would be. The Cox Engine Powered shirt has 3 colors and is screen printed (at least it was the last time I ordered one).

Screen printed as in not a big patch that is stiff ? I am thinking mine is going to dry crack (the first run we got) I love the shirt dont get me wrong and proud to wear it !! The softness is just not there .The Cox Engine Powered shirt has 3 colors and is screen printed (at least it was the last time I ordered one). wrote:

You might try wearing a lightweight ribbed-sleeveless T-shirt under it. That might help to keep the printed area from sticking to you when your sweating.
If you dry your Cox-logo shirt in a machine.. be sure to use a low-heat setting.. or let it "air-dry" on a hanger. The agitating/tumbling of laundry machines may soften it-up a bit.. just don't use any bleach when washing.. or subject it to high-temp drying. I would personally hand-wash it and hang-it to dry.

Tee Bee --
Thanks so much for posting the ad with the exploded view. In today's world of CGI and CAD, we tend to forget the art of mechanical drawing and illustration. Having spent a lot of time at a drafting table with T-square, triangles and French curves in addition to inking final drawings (and praying not to have a bleed under), I really appreciate the craftsmanship of hand drawn engines.
COX always produced beautifully drawn engines with their ads and manuals.

I agree, Andrew. And they were made to close tolerances in shops by real craftsmen working with real tools long before CNC machines existed.

The first ones (and I believe the later ones as well) were screen printed, one color at a time. I was worried it would be a little stiff, but I thought it wasn't too bad. I haven't washed it a lot so I don't know if it hardens over time or not. I wonder if they can make them with a lighter print.
