What I am wondering is why we are having discussion over a post from Jan 2018 that even the original poster never bothered with replying.

Nah, it's just a carry over. Anytime is a good time to talk motorcycles.
The opening scene in Lawrence of Arabia typifies the joy and possible tragedy one gets while riding. T.E. on his Brough Superior experienced both during his last ride. Freddy came close once as I recall.

Fledgling
Just spotted this thread...
Honda put the engine numbers in a box down by the fear change pedal shaft fir this era of bikes...
Dad and I went to a large auction in baschurch Shropshire UK in the early seventies, loads of Marshall single cylinder
diesel tractors and such like.
A plug was removed from the head, a rolled up newspaper placed in the plug, dipped in diesel and set alight, the plug screwed back in the head and the engine started by hand...
Anyways there was a honda c72 twin 250cc pressed steel frame of similar design to the white bike pictured early in this thread.
On inspection at home, someone had spent a fortune on new engine components and used red hermatite sealer which blocked every oilway and ruined more or less every rotating component in the engine !
Very sad, way tooo much money needed to make good so we sold it for what we(dad) paid for it.
It would be worth a fortune these days introspective if condition...you live and learn.
The 1974 cb125s is patiently waiting in the shed for its turn to come, as is the yds7/rd250...
The pc50 is junk, gutless, difficult to pedal and absolutely rubbish brakes...it's got to go as it's a waste of shed space...the Philips panda I had at 16 was better, older and more fun !
