Hi. Yesterday evening I was fortunate enough to pick up the Cox engine below. When I got there to buy it, I then realized that there was no prop driver on it. It has a tapered end of the crankshaft, and was leading me to believe that it may be for one of the Cox vehicles. It is locked up solid and has a #3 cylinder. So, would anyone happen to know what it belongs to, or better yet, can I somehow run it, of course after I clean and free it up? If I need parts, would anyone happen to have parts available for sale? Thank you.

Definitely a car engine. Matt has the tapered drive plates available to run that with a prop.

Without the pull starter its going to be hard to determine which exact car it came from.

Ok. Thank you for your help in identifying. That is kind of what I was thinking, but the confirmation from someone more knowledgable is perfect. I was kind of thinking too, after posting the picture, that it would be hard to identify its original roots, as these were probably used in a bunch of vehicles.

If I remember correctly the crank journal is larger than normal in those engines so you can't swap cranks like most Bees.

It's nice to know that there are air-screw drive-plates available to convert the engine to aero!!! I'm sure that it would be worth having at least one of those in my Cox .049 "front-end" parts-bin.

Yes, they do appear larger. I have not yet removed it, however, I have one of my Bees apart for cleaning and I did put the front of teh case against it, and the crankshaft was larger.
