I've been selling my stuff off for a while and in the end I'll get half of his "wholesale" estimate. But there is no way people can think that it's easy or there are people out there willing to buy this stuff for that kind of money, and then drive to his dinky ass town to get it in the middle of nowhere.
I often crack up at the local pick-up only ads on eBay and the forum classifieds, one's market is SO small once that is done. I live in Los Angeles and I will ship almost anywhere. The reason is that even here I'm limiting my market.
I shipped a Jaguar V-12 engine on a pallet to some guy in Florida, I'd do anything to get it out of my hair.
One must sell in a buyers market like we find today.
I see that the auction was pulled and he probably sold it for a fraction of his estimate to a local reseller. I know a few around the country and they do business that way. Neat stuff, though.
