Anyone know why these would fetch almost 20$ each? eBay is a funny place, things I think will sell high can't catch a bid and then McCoy NVs sell for big bucks.

My quess is it’s just the “ luck of the draw “!  Gotta be all in the timing of having a item listed when a eager buyer sees it and has to have it NOW.
lol!

Yup.

Beats me, some sellers think their products are worth more than they really are, and some buyers seem to be equally vain. Laughing

I'd just buy shtterman's compatible Enya NVA and be done with it. Someone was trying to sell a mid 1960's Scientific Musciano half-A kit for over $200. Another was trying to sell an NOS Tatone muffler in packaging for $80 plus shipping. I'm glad I picked up several for 1/4th to 1/5th that several years ago.

I solved that needle problem for less than that. Evolution .46 rear needle valve assembly on my Testors McCoy .35 Red Head (with unpainted head). Mount spacing fits McCoy crankcase bolt spacing perfectly (1.0 inch).

O-ring keeps needle threads from sucking air. An added bonus, the Evo needle is finely threaded versus the McCoy's 2-56 thread.

Post  66 Malibu Mon Feb 11, 2019 3:39 pm

About 5 years ago I got a box of unsold items from the local flying club fundraiser auction for a $1 donation..
There was a like new McCoy .35 Red Head in the box missing a NV. I looked on eBay for many weeks and finally found one for $10 + $4 shipping in Oregon.
Expecting a small envelope with NV instead, I laughed when a large package arrived.
The seller said he taped the small NV to a piece of the balsa fuselage of the plane that crashed and donated the engine part so that it wouldn't be lost in USPS !!!
Comical and I kept the balsa for grins and giggles.
Oh yes, the club was moving full speed to electrics and drones about the time of the auction so, all control line stuff including a new Hot Rocks handle and a totally like new Fox .15X with muffler, along many building goodies were in the $1 Box.
I guess it pays to be an odd old guy !!!

Two things are generally missing from the Mccoy redhead, which is usually the prop driver or the needle valve. Seeing that they haven't been made in years it's really no surprise to see new ones in the packages go for that amount. Mecoa is now selling the POS replacement needle valve for the Fox .35 at $13.69 + $5 shipping. The entire assembly is $25.00 + $5, who in the right mind would buy it? They will go in the dumpster someday just like the parts from Fox. It's a sign of the times.
