Loose muffler on Queen Bee?

Loose muffler on Queen Bee?
I recently acquired a .074 Queen Bee at on auction and converted it to diesel. The muffler rotates about 15 degrees around the cylinder with the glow head and is just as loose with the diesel head screwed down tight. In fact, the only thing that keeps it from rotating all the way around is the flat rear flange hitting the carb flange. It appears the previous owner radiused the bottom edge of the muffler flange for whatever reason but also turned off the bottom fin from the cylinder that would have screwed down on the muffler housing. I tried washers cut from cardboard and aluminum to fill that gap but have had no luck so far. Looks like I need a replacement cylinder at the very least. Can I assume I've been had?

Rubber O ring will lock it down from migrating.

Re: Loose muffler on Queen Bee?
You can pull the cylinder off take it to the auto parts store they have draws of different sizes to try.
With the missing fin a meaty O ring should do it. Needs to be undersized so it stretches over the cylinder.
As an example I bought this for my TD .049 worked like a charm this was with all fins still on the cylinder
Attention to compression capacity and heat / fuel resistance function will give you long lasting results.
12mm ID x 14.4mm OD x 1.2mm C/S
75 Durometer Rubber Viton O-rings
A general purpose Viton (Fluorocarbon Elastomer) compound suitable for applications requiring resistance to high temperatures and compression set. Outstanding resistance to blended aromatic fuels and straight aromatics as well as halogenated hydrocarbons. Good resistance to strong acids and steam. Temperature range -20° to 400°F (-29° to 204°C).
cut away: 1.2mm dia.

Thanks. I didn't think an "O" ring would hold the pressure but I'll give it a try. I have a selection of those in the basement.

If your cylinder is stepped wall try to put the O ring in the groove under the exhaust ports before you chuck back the muffler. Will not only keep it tight but will retain the castor that otherwise escapes at the bottom...my experience..

Don't need no stinkin muffler. Oops, sorry did I say that out loud? I know it depends on the field. but mine had a lot more power without one.
