Ring gap question

Hi I'm new to this forum well to any forum really so please correct me if I'm doing this wrong but my question is this I have a 2.0 liter turbo ltg Cadillac motor I'm rebuilding first motor ever rebuilding and I've got it in pieces I've never had a lawn mower engine apart so please bare with me but the pistons are for a bore of 3.386 and I was told to times that by .0050 for first ring or top ring and .0055 for second ring and my results are my top ring has a gap of .016 and my second ring at .022 should I leave them as is or should I get oversize rings and file the second ring down to get closer to .018 and the top ring closer to .017 or just call them good where they are not having any experience I feel like .016 is just a little to tight for a turbo charged motor but again I don't know and .022 when it should be .018 is a bit big to me I know we're talking just a few thousandths of an inch but will that make a difference with anything as far as performance and reliability

Is this is a gm 2.0 ecotec engine 4 cylinder ? In the case of a supercharged or turbocharged engine, the piston ring must not be too tight the engine could wear prematurely also if the rings are difficult to install feal very tightly check to have the correct ones Allow the engine to do well the brakin period befor put To mutch boost alow more than 3 full tank of gas

Too small gap may cause the engine to freeze or, as David said, cause the cylinder to wear excessively and prematurely. The stock gap recommended in the instructions is determined to allow thermal expansion of the ring circumference and thus reduction of the gap when the engine is hot. The cooler cylinder will expand less than the hotter ring, so the gap is smaller when the engine is hot, and vice versa. Top rings are the hottest and need the wider gap than the rings below..
