I'm slowly building up some mini benchtools. There are several models I want to scratch build, so the tools will help. Several years ago I snapped up a small scroll saw. The second was an old Sears micro-drill press. This was one of those with a bail that clamps a hand drill in place. I wasn't going to spend a fortune for a suitable hand-drill even though none of mine would fit. But the deal was done, so I grabbed it anyway.

The third you see below. I still need to strip it and readjust everything. I took the small table from the first cheapy. It just looks more complete with the puny work table.

Then there is my latest aquisition. This one is a clone of the Dremel 580. I picked up accessories from two (well, the only two) aftermarket vendors. I'm still cheaper than the equivalent Dremel all kitted out, but I need to fix some mis-alignment issues before I use it for production.

Last but not least is my mini hand plane. A Wilkro with the spoke shave bullnose adapter. This thing uses old, cleaned, sanitized double edge razors. It gives me a way to get more use from my shaving blades.

I hope to find a decent "Dremel-type" mini hand grinder to adapt to the first drill press. But that is much later. A mini disk sanding table would be awesome too!

Those are nice Jim…New tools seem to inspire to build…. My shop is small but well outfitted…. I don’t have a scroll saw but have a bench top band saw….No disc sander either but sometimes put a drum sander in an old Harbor Freight drill press…Good for dressing edges and shaping blocks…. You’ll find your drill press very versatile…Looking forward to see what comes out of your shop!

I love the mini table saw. I was going to buy one a few years ago to help with building, but chickened out and did not get it. Still there are times I wish I did though.

Yard sale and flea markets guys.  I (or rather my son) found my professional grade Craftsman radial aarm saw for $13.00, with a bunch of other stuff.  Used it to cut out parts for my Cox .010 Triplane.

Paid $40 for my band saw.
