I bought some applicator bottles a while back. They work well and you can fill them with your favorite oil. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QWFHW3K/ These Liberty bottles are nice. They also offer these with a few different oils. I tried some cheaper bottles and they were junk. My son was also using one for thinned wood glue for rubber model building.
IMO any hydraulic oil will be fine, but some have additional R&O additives and may also meet "turbine" specs. I think air tool oil maybe just be R&O hydraulic oil, but air tool oil spec sheets are pretty vague. If you don't otherwise use or have access to these types of oils, buying a gallon or 5 gallon pail isn't practical. These specialty products have their place.
They really do!
Thanks, for the bottles listing! In now on my list on the Big Retail River (Amazon)!

Regarding the "zoom-spout" oilers; My local Walmart had this one stocked in the yard-goods (sewing) aisle.

That is interesting, Roddie, MSDS classifies it as "Turbine Oil". I'll be dipped in molasses.
