Loaded question isn't it? What type of model? How short a tether?...

I'm not sure of the question. Only the length of the line or the length of the model, but if the line is too short, the plane will spin very quickly and there is a risk of loss of control following dizziness, but too long the line risks slaking and the model loses control. But a boat or a car is different, it turns faster and gives the impression of driving faster

I was thinking about flying one of my small control line models in my "side-yard"... but there's not a whole lot of clear area. The "RTP" thing has been on my mind too. Maybe if I "de-tuned" one of my engines to run slower, I could fly an airplane on shorter lines for just some roundy-round fun. One of the nearby locations that I'd hoped to fly at, has become unavailable.

I see well then you could use a propeller with a lower pitch add chimms on the motor head and run slightly richer If you have a .020 you could perhaps install it on a larger model but one which normally uses the .049 the reduction in performance and weight could allow you to fly more slowly ! You could also build a new model that would be designed to fly very slowly (take a rc slow flyer).!!! You could surely find a model made to fly indoors and convert it like I do with my rc models but take advantage of the fact of being able to lighten even more by using control line Can i make a suggestion mabe find a throttle control ligne handel ??? Maybe it's a lot and hard to find but I believe you can manage to build your own handel design ?

Roddie, I’ve shared this before but kind of a neat Cox memory…. I was about 20 yo and been on my own for a couple of years…. I had just finished a 20 x 40 metal building with a concrete floor on my place …Mom bought for my birthday a Cox Mantis U-Conrol…. So I set up a pole about 3’ high and about a nine foot line and locked the elevator and flew it in that building……. Took a few tries to get the elevator dialed but when it did it went around that little circle in a hurry!!!!

I say go for it… RTP is about equivalent to shenanigans lol!!!

When we were kids we flew on 8' lines as we had only a limited space to fly in a front yard.
