hi there friends - hate to admit that I got a testors product- i am cox all the way. looking to see if anyone knows where I can obtain TESTORS glow plugs? My friend Bernie at COX international tells me they are a little difficult to come by and a cox product won't work - I really would like to get a few as one of my toys will be a christmas gift and needs a glow plug to get her up and running - see I am giving my testors stuff away to friends but keeping my cox cars under lock and key- also looking to see if anyone has info to change the recoil starter cable - one of my cox cars needs one and although I was able to get a cable - no instructions and I cannot figure out how to seperate this unit from the crankcase for the repair. ANY HELP IS REALLY APPRECIATED FROM YOU ALL- FLY'EM HIGH!!!!

Is there a particular reason that you want to uses a Testor's glo plug in a Cox engine? A regular Cox engine uses a "glo head" rather than a separate "glo plug". Glo-plugs may be adapted to Cox engine but it would require installing a cylinder head made for that purpose.

I have such a head installed on my Cox Surestart. The glo pulg screws into the head and not the cylinder the purpose being to reduce the engine's idle speed upon RC input.

So what do you have against using a Cox glo-head in a Cox engine?

As far as I have been able to find (Been looking for a Testors head for a couple of years) these heads are virtually impossible to get any longer, your only chance would be to drop on one by chance. I am seriously considering modifying the burned-out head to take a standard plug.

You would probably have better luck using an insert style plug.
for higher RPM.

If you are going to modify an existing head I would recommend modifying it to accept either a turbo plug or a Nelson plug. If you want someone to do it for you try flyfreeflight.com.

Good Luck,

Bob

AGAIN - THANKS all the info helps to make options-higher RPMS for the car really is not necessary as the gear ratio is pretty significant 20:1 and the tires tend to spin anyway either straight or when set to run in a circle - but I gotta think a higher temp burn will leave less residual by- lol! product. You guys are great - do you make house calls and do windows???? lol!
