You're welcome, Bob. I'm not quite the collector you are, but have my fair share of Enyas, 11 in all: 2 - .09-III TV's, 2 - .09-III CL's, 3 - .15-III TV's, .19-VI TV, .19-V CL, .35-III TV, .35-V TV. The already broke in .35-III TV is targeted for my Goldberg Falcon III. I like the cross scavenged Enyas, they are torquey little buggers. Very Happy

Bob, you could probably use a pair of needle nose pliers to straighten that bent needle valve stem on your Enya .09-III TV:

Here's the .09-III TV fitted to a Sureflite foam Cessna 180 of the 1980's:

Here's another .09-III TV with Dubro Muffl-Aire-II fitted to an OK Models Pilot Cessna 177 of the 1960's:

Hi George,  Yes,  I could straighten that needle, but I think it adds "character"  which probably means that I'm just to lazy to do so.  I have had reasonable luck though on some, but not quite as bad as that one.

I just started on this .19 with a Dubro muffler unlike any that I have ever seen.  It's probably quite popular though.  It's unique in that it has all of those baffles with wafer thin separators between.  Seems they would do the job but be quite restrictive in doing so.  Do you know anything about them?

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_134

The .19 is a bit of a mess but cleaning up.

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_136
Eric, the four stroke is a model 46-4C.

I know little about it other than it's late 80's early '90's.  Unlike most I buy it's in great shape requiring nothing.  Boring.

That is a Dubro Muff-L-Aire, first version. One adjusted noise and back pressure by how many plates and washers were used. Add a plate/washer set or two for less back pressure and more noise, remove for less noise and more back pressure. A lot of CL guys were using them until they discovered that over time, Castor oil residue would coat the plates and increase back pressure require cleaning. It was maintenance intensive and thus the muffler of choice became the now current tongue muffler.

The .19 is a bit of a mess but cleaning up.

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_136

That looks like an earlier circa 1962 Enya .19-IV per
http://www.supercoolprops.com/articles/enya.php.
It is a respectable sport engine, as all Enyas are. Later versions put out a tad more power, but that would be expected.

Thanks George, I read that article.  Bob Allan gives the .19 a lot of ink from the three bolt forward.  I have most of the versions outside the three bolt.

The first and second editions of the 4003 with the first version having the nickel plated slots, second having the JIS (Phillips).

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_137

And the rest - 4002, 4005, 4006.  Still looking for the 4003 (if there is one) and the BB versions.

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_138

I tend not to aggressivly clean the early models, just a stiff tooth brush and some Remoil followed by a compressed air blow out.

I finished the .19 with the Dubro and yellow spinner leaving it CKD (completely knocked down) like the MG's that were exported to Australia during their hay-day.  I always knew that one day I would have to disassemble them all again, get out the calipers and do some measuring.  This way I avoid that.

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_143

Just comparing the .19 and .15 while CKD is informative, comparing the various inhaling and exhaling systems that Enya (and others) used.  Also you can bet that that connecting rod on the .19 is directional, get it backwards and you would know about it.

A little Enya crazy - Page 2 Enya_139

Notice the nickel plated case screw among the other 3 black Phillips in this early .19.  I bet there were some left over's in the supply bin from the previous model.

Nowhere near as nice as Bob's blasted finish, but it came up pretty well.  I completed the carb with some spare parts from an .09 I converted to C/L and, as promised, I went and burned some nitro to celebrate my birthday.
As I suspected, apart from the broken carb and surface corrosion, it seems like new.  You can see on the bottom picture where the muffler strap was covering the "ENYA" and the case finish is pristine.
Didn't take much to get it fired up but I'll have to work on the spray bar position because it was rather finicky.  I'm not too sure how far to screw it in.  I had it sitting about half way across the venturi opening.  Chances are it will still need a fair bit of break-in.
Apart from this, I tried to fire up my .09 I recently got. (The one with the missing head screw).  The screw I fitted didn't seem quite right so I didn't screw the head down too firmly just in case.  It fired up ok but once warm didn't have a lot of compression.  It also didn't want to draw fuel too good so I may need to check my test stand fuel tank.

It looks pretty darn good to me Rod, especially the head and cylinder fins. Many of mine are permanently stained and/or crash rashed and no amount of polishing fixes that.

Sand blasting (aluminum oxide) at around 80 psi removes most of the case stains but leaves the finish a little rough so I work it down with fine steel wool and air tool oil, comes out close to factory.

As you know those head screws come in many lengths, this guy didn't and crushed a fin.

Eric, those engines are nice. Leaves

A little Enya crazy to have a .15-III TV grace a 36-in (914-mm) Sig Wonder.

Those engines look clean Eric.  Something like that I would just heat it up with a heat gun, then carefully turn it over with a prop attached, after a little cool down, spray a little Remoil or drop some light oil into the exhaust and venturi and continue turning it over until it's free,

I like Remoil in the venturi, held shaft end down until it runs clear out the drive washer interface if you don't plan on a complete disassembly.  Usually when you pull the front end it means a new gasket at around four bucks. (when you do seventy or eighty of these things it adds up Sad ) If it's clean complete disassembly may not be necessary.  I would probably disassembe it. If you heat it up or boil it you might save the gasket if you carefully separate the cases. Those gaskets are tough.

Nice package, what are the others, looks like a McCoy etc.  Sender knew how to pack, needles out.

Yes, George, maybe a 29 or 35 would be better on that 36 incher.

Bob, the Sig Wonder is RC not CL. A .35 would be a bit too much, a .15 is fast enough. Warm

Hi Bob, You do some nice work. The Muff'l aire is a beautiful period accessory. I'd keep it on the engine for display. The instructions are printed on the back of the Du-Bro carton. I have the aluminium extension and the u bolt still on the package but the plates, washers and nuts are gone. I have a separate set of plates, washers and bolts with Allen key packed in a plastic box, but for a bigger model. It carries nr 217.

I like the SIG Wonder. Sometimes you find one for sale over here 2nd hand, but I think they are not common on this side of the ocean. This reminds me to post this thread again. Nothing to do with Enya's though, but it is Wonder related:

Thanks Lieven for posting about that Dubro muffler and including the instructions. I had reached the same conclusion, keep it on the engine.

I gotta get out more, never heard of the Sig Wonder. Watched that video. WOW.

Lleven, thanks for posting that video, yes the Wonder is certainly not for the faint hearted. Smoking

since you are across the pond and shipping has become prohibitively expensive lately, another aircraft similar to the Wonder is the Lanier Shrike. A download of the .40 sized plans can be found here:

RC Groups: Another Lanier Shrike Post #158

It has been out of production for a while, designed by Joe Beshar, could be scaled to Wonder size or any size, has patterns.
