Friday Model Flying with My Other Cousin Bob
Page 1 of 1
Friday Model Flying with My Other Cousin Bob
Well, the cool/cold air kept my Uncle Wayne holed up in his warm little house, but me and My Other Cousin Bob decided to brave it for some Friday afternoon tooling around. Bob lives up north somewhere close to Chicago, flying from a club field that is a lot more restrictive space-wise, so the wide expanses of the little airport at Cairo give him a lot more elbow room.
I had finally finished Mud Dabber's rebuild, at least up to the point of test-flying time, and also preferred some space for it's first trip around the patch.
The day's temps were nice enough, at first, but slowly dropped as we flew. My younger brother, Keith, showed up and was nominated as camera man and handed a video camera. So, we got some video and stills, with more stills being pulled from the video footage.
Had a good time, though lacking a lot of 'pizzaz' without Wayne and the verbal jousting with Bob that we depend on.
Everything went home in attractive big pieces, so it was a success. With Mud Dabber's trimming finished, I'll be able to fly the old trainer from Wayne's back-yard strip on it's next run to Illinois.
MOC Bob makes a low pass with one of his high-powered electrics...
All the kids are aboard...
Mud Dabber looks a bit smallish next to it's Senior Sport sibling...
'When Go Pros Won't Go' ...my expensive little camera has been cranky since getting rained-on at the Sig Fly-In last summer...
Cruising the beanfields...
Bob's tiny Fly Baby was doing a good job of hovering in the breeze...

I actually spent about 15 minutes at the hobby shop looking over those eFlight Spacewalkers trying to figure out if I could get a TD .010 to fly it without shaking it apart.

Looks like a nice day and fun outing. I've always loved those beautiful Kadets. I think that's a red shadow on the grass in front of it.

Re: Friday Model Flying with My Other Cousin Bob
Thanks guys!
Yeah Mark, the .010/Space Walker thought occurred to me too, but the little thing is made so light, you'd probably have to brace it up so much it's lose it's charm...not to mention making it fly like a clipped-wing P-51 !
We had a great time...I keep hoping we can pull together a few more of our old crew for a day somewhat like Old Times when we had all kinds of stuff lined up on the ramp...but I'll take what I can get !
