That is probably what it cost when it was new.

Isn't that the question Joe asked first? What's it worth new? Not , What it's worth now? Or how much would you pay for it now? I'm guessing.

Exactly. It's worth more now as a collector's item, but three to six dollars is approximately what it cost "when new".

I'd offer $40.00. That's probably way low, but it's a starting point for negotiations. Of course, if it's up Portland way, then it's not worth bothering with.... Eyebrows

I hate it when someone wants me to make an offer. Ask me about Cox engines and I'm good to go.

Two questions:-

1. Is it complete? The prop driver and nut aren't shown. (Or my eyes can't see them!). Are the operating instructions still there?

2. Is it a used example that has been carefully stored or new and never run?

These are the main items that affect the price for a collector.

The box is not pristine but it is old. The propeller looks unused and it comes with the tool.

Depending on how many boxes can be ticked - I would estimate the value at $45 for a used as seen without instructions up to $75 for a complete new unused engine with operating instructions. One with a pristine box would fetch more. I saw one of these with a pristine box fetch $95 last year.
