Dude! Ain't gonna faze me a bit...if I get my way...and if my quirky metabolism permits, I'll be cranking engines in the early light...or...sitting and sipping coffee...or...both....
Been sanding and shaping the Lazy Bee's new rudder...probably cover it tomorrow. It made all the trips to S.M.A.L.L. back in the day...

The Board of Engines Goes Golden !!!!!
Got tired of routing wires and centering servos, and decided to work toward getting the Bird of Time ready to help me cheat a bit in getting a bunch of Cox engines airborne at S.M.A.L.L.
I know, it ain't no EIGHT-engined Hercules, but a boy works with what he's got.
In THIS case, I got me three Golden Bees of various lineage and temperament bolted to the B.O.T.'s Board of Engines. They still need a little fiddling, but I was able to get all three started with just a little hassle and swapping out one bad glowhead.
A healthy cloud of Sig Castor blasting out of the Skunk Works window....
So, the day ain't going bad so far, and now, to splint the B.O.T.'s broken wing...

Yep...pistol was her dad's, bell bottoms were her gift to me...never told her that the crazy flower shirt was a hand-me-down from a previous girlfriend whose brother was in a disco band ...

Re: 2016 S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In
Another S.M.A.L.L item checked off:
Test-gliding the 2 Meter B.O.T. to check it's newly recovered wing for warps.
Yes, I finally got enough of the scotch-tape patches, the ground-eroded wing tips, and the occasional Monokote peeling back and photo-bombing my videos. The old wing was stripped AND checked internally before busting out two new rolls of transparent red and black to take the old B.O.T. back to it's former glory.
It was good and square on my hand-launches, so-much-so that my intended couple of tosses turned into quite a few as I enjoyed the evening quiet. So it's clear to go.
Now, on to using a liquid paper correction pen to inscribe my official FAA # on my flying machines so the Toy Nazi's won't ground me !!!!

Thanks Eric! I intend to give it my level-best shot !!! I could stop prepping right now and STILL have more planes than I'll probably fly, but find myself beset with the insidious "I may want to fly that while I'm down there" syndrome. So, the prep goes on....
Just to add a bit more tension, I'm right on the edge of buying a camper to drag behind the van, but will see about that...Thursday is my self-imposed cut-off date.
I intend to load up all my cards with so much model airplane stuff that I'll still be discovering new photos and video for the rest of the summer....

Re: 2016 S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In
Oh yeah...got the 3M B.O.T.'s left wing spar box rebuilt and ready to cover, so it'll be there along with it's smaller sibling. Still got to finish the radio installation in 'Blunderbus'...it'll need a lot of test-gliding before I light up it's .010.
Yep, the van will be much easier to load up without having to allow for sleeping space and camping gear, and the camper it'self will be able to pack quite a few flying machines. It has a 'bunkhouse' floor plan, with what the salesman mistakenly referred to as 'bunkbeds' in the rear left corner (poor dude couldn't recognize 'Airplane Shelving' when it was right in front of him!!)
Gonna take an instruction class on how to operate it's water systems and am looking forward to relaxing under it's awning with my C.E.F. buds (and whoever else happens by) in between our sessions of converting nitro to wonderful racket ! Going into town later to get some interior photos as they prep it, so you all may have to tolerate a little more hooting over my new toy.
From my S.M.AL.L. archives, some photos of my cargo trailer at Maumelle back in the early 2000's. Joe Wagner and his son asked if I had room to store a couple of their planes overnight so they wouldn't have to disassemble them: "Well, I guess so !!!" Turned my cargo trailer into a shrine !!!

THANKS !!! I'm liking it...just got to get it to the front yard! Getting a brake controller installed in the van this morning.
Also, I think we ought to start a new thread once the event begins, that will have solid S.M.A.L.L. stuff, so everyone won't have to sift through my off topic stuff here. It'll be EPIC !!!!!

Thanks Eric!!! I'll be packing some serious stuff !!! The ONLY thing that's keeping me from blathering away about this thing and posting a catalog of photos is my need to avoid boring my buds....whoops !!!!!!!!
Just wait 'till Rusty wakes up to see this thing parked in his driveway!!!

Dang I should cxl my room and live with Kim..
Stop panicking Kim, jest kidding...I smoke too much and got a smoking room...un obtainable most of the time
But we WILL spend much time under your awning.... BTW dinner each night, I am there, is on me if you have hot coffee every morning
However I have room for my very small low watt 2 stroke HF generator if you think it might come in handy...not for powering you rolling Taj Ma Hall but more in thinking--- soldering iron, heat gun, covering iron, charging batteries

Wait.. what about Stephen Stanley Bayes' cox diesel generator? It would surely supply enough DC power for all of your needs!
