beam mount question

beam mount question
Has anyone mounted there engine with the cylinder to the inside of the circle? Does it cause any problems? I am considering doing this because mounting conventionaly puts my needle valve to the bottom to be broken off on each landing.

Re: beam mount question
Unless it inhibits the fuel flow up the bypass ports(which I doubt), I don't see why not. What kind of engine can't you swap sides of the NV with? I usually cut my top mounted needles short and either bend it into a "J" or solder a nut on top of the cut-off stub of the needle. I have swapped so it points down, and just had to get used to reaching around and underneath the fuselage to turn it.

Re: beam mount question
Rusty, I want to build the 75% sabre with a mkXII wen mac. The needle valve is pressed in and also on an angle. If turned around it would be in the prop. I could radial mount but those tabs are pretty week to me.

Looses the advantage of shifting weight to the outboard tip...
yes, I am fishing. I can't think of any real reasons.

Re: beam mount question
I used to know a guy that had a baby clown with a golden bee mounted to a horseshoe backplate, mounted just like the hiper viper, with fuel line coming off rh side and cylinder flat to left..it flew great!
i don't think the weight-off set is that much of a hardship, glue a nickle to the outboard and go! If you press out needle on Wen-Mac it will likely be loose when you press it back.
