testors 049
Does anyone have one of the testors engines with the black plastic tank the want to sell? Or even just the tank? I know they show up on ebay but they are too high for me most of the time. Ill try to post a pic of what im looking for.

Re: testors 049
Do you mean the earlier Testors engine with the beam mounts and tank mount, or the later "Pipe Bomb" engine with the clip in tank?

Re: testors 049
The black plastic tank sold with the Testors McCoy 'Redhead'. A Tee Dee red plastic tank would also work?
RE: Testors .049
The Cox red tank mount will not fit the Testors .049/McCoy Redhead engine because the engine radial mount is triangular shaped and way too big........

Actually, I purchased a McCoy .049 as described which was attached to a red Tee Dee tank mount. Seems to fit just fine. No evidence of any modifications to make it fit in this case.

RE: Testors .049
Rod,
You very well could be right.. I checked the 8 or so Testors McCoy .049 engines that I have ( including two Red Heads with the black tank) and all had the same triangular radial back and would not fit a Cox tank mount as mentioned.
You may have a different flavor Testors/McCoy that I 've never seen or maybe a Dremel tool rounded every thing out.
Interesting.........

I was lucky this past Spring at a swap meet and talked a guy out of one of those Testors tank mounts for a quarter. He didn't know what it was for, so he let it go cheap.

Nope, standard McCoy/Testors engine. No mods. I assumed the tank was a Tee Dee tank as I haven't seen a similar one in red. Also doesn't look modified. Engine came bolted to it in an engine lot I grabbed off ebay. I'll have to revisit and find it & have a look. Just goin' off memory, which isn't so flash these days.
