Thanks guys, I was hoping someone would chime in.

I know nothing about these, but I have been seeing them at Fairs and Flea markets in fair to good condition for $795 +.  Too rich for my blood.  I was just skimming ebay as usual looking for Cox items when I came across the Cameron for $500 BIN with free shipping and jumped on it.  Later I found the .045 for $550 and made an offer of $475 which they accepted.  

CB the sellers were - lonestartrains and C.W. McCall. I always admired your's and you were a big factor in me finally buying them.

Eric - Yeah, bummer.  Seriously.  I want one that I can tear into and learn about.  But even the clapped out examples are above what I'm willing to pay.

I think I just got lucky....sort of.

Staining around the fuel inlet and other places. Seller is a train guy, no other Cox products.

Roy Cox Champion arrived today.  Fast shipping, seller must have shipped it the same day.

But, what do I have?  Came in a Nilint box but has Roy Cox Thimble Drome Champion Made in Santa Ana Calif cast into the bottom.  Metal Cameron engine with compression, not plastic like the Nylints.  

Heavy.  Nice.  Cameron engine dropped into an original Roy Cox Champion?

Hello and thank you for looking. I have up for sale one totally restored Roy Cox Thimble Drome Champion Lightning Bug Tether Car with the Ringed .199 Cameron Brothers engine. The engine has been refurbished to like new condition with new rings installed and prior to refit, it was briefly run on a static test stand using a 10% blend of Nitromethane. My personal recommendation would be to have it as a display model only as the tires are reproduction items and not designed for actual use. The car is very much a used item and as such, is being sold in an AS-IS condition with absolutely no warranties expressed or implied by myself, the seller.
