We can get smaller production runs. However, that would be just as economically unfeasible as large runs.

Pricing would be so high that sales would be really slow and 100 pieces might take many years to sell.

If and when we have surplus funds we prefer to manufacture high-yield, fast-selling items where we can sell a 1,000 production run within a year or two.

Why manufacture hard-to-sell items when we can use the funds to manufacture something that nets a quick and high return?

We are, years later, still sitting on huge piles of items that we were told were much needed on the market but are just not selling.

2-56x1 1/4 tank screws would be good, there longer than stock, so you get more threads in the crankcase, they would be cut to length, what would also be good is to supply the 2-56 tap with them

The problem we have been having is that even our 1" screws are bottoming out and often have to be cut (especially on older crankcases), so adding more length may not add anything good to the equation.

well i was saying that the tap would be to add more threads in the crankcase, i know just putting longer screws through it wouldnt help.

However, these are specialty tools that would target only a very limited # of buyers. Taps and dies are quite a specialized niche market and we only have very limited funds each month for new products, that's the main problem. Therefore, it becomes tempting to target only items which are expected to sell briskly.

What not to understand? (If a product doesn't "move" in the market what the purpose of offering it?) Huh...

We are always grateful for suggestions from our customers and have added many products to our offerings simply because someone suggested the product and we felt it would sell.

However, we cannot act on every suggestion as, sometimes, suggestions are made based on the immediate need of someone for a hard-to-find part. That creates the illusion that the part must be popular; hence why not stock it.

The reality is often that there may be a dozen or so buyers looking for the same hard-to-find product but that's it. We, on the other hand, need to manufacture parts in the hundreds, if not thousands, to obtain viable pricing.

In the first year or two of operations we had parts made that "everyone" wanted and felt there was a big market for. For some of those items we have a supply that will exceed our life expectancy.

We are just a 2-person operation and have to be careful in what product we invest. Having big capital tied up in slow-selling products creates cash-flow problems.

That's pretty neat Roger and thanks for posting that. Certainly something to try out. We did have 1,000 mufflers made a few months ago and they are selling briskly.

Shipping fuel from here costs upwards of $60 per bottle (hazardous material) so definitely not an option.

However, diesel fuel can be obtained from Davis Diesel in the USA with reasonable shipping cost.

What is the cell type and count of this battery?

I am working on a glider and it calls for a 4 cell 1/3AAA battery. (Otherwise I need a UBEC and lipo which is more volume and lighter so it may prove a balance/fit issue.)

4 cells, each 1.2v for a total of 4.8v. Total output 220 mAh. They are designed to power a receiver.

Hey there Bernie, This nudge by "Rusty" reminded me of our communique'; on Aug.22. If your Sept. issue has not "gone to print" yet; I could get something together within 24 hrs. (Ea. coast) I seemed to have issues "conveying" the build; to some of the members. Where "some" don't comment at all... I can only assume that most; found my design hard to "visualize".

The gentleman "ebeneezer" lives in England. He'd acquired (estate?) a lot of diesels, and wanted advice. I assume that; being a forum member... he may have some Cox engines. I believe someone had a "killer crank" avail. for the .049... Does Cox Int'l. stock this part... or the "top end?? I am going to mention it to him; as I did your "Davis Diesel" recommendation for fuel. (Davis will provide ebeneezer with a "blend/component formula"; as they do not ship o/s USA)

Hi Bernie,

I build balsa plane recently, and my friend gave me some Litespan covering material. Almost ruin my plane. Its too hard to use. Local hobby shop not selling any light weight film.

I have good experience in iron-on material but most of them are just too heavy for 1/2A.

Just wish that Cox International will carry some stock like Aerospan, Ultracote Lite etc, since we are building just small 1/2A planes, maybe you can try to cut the whole roll into 2 for shorter roll or fold it smaller sheet so that can be ship it worldwide Shocked

I think tissue and dope are good item too.
