My Fancherized Twister build; 3 days til Huntersville

If your FP is the iron piston version, it might not be too happy with the 10.5 x 4.5. While the size and pitch sound about correct, the APC prop is a very thin bladed. It certainly won't hurt to try. I would keep a 11 x 4 on hand.

Actually, I changed my mind and flew the first two with a 10x4. A Master Airscrew 10x4, and the engine cut off way too soon and was completely gutless. I then put the 10.5 x 4.5 back on it and it ran with much more authority and plenty of time for a pattern with a timely cutoff. But the next flight went lean and overheated, so that big prop may indeed be too much for it to swing. It is a steel fp.35.

I'll get back and post a proper flight report with pics and vids and a detailed description of the trimming we did. I did get to the point where I confidently flew it through a full pattern, although not a pretty one. It still needs more trimming, but I'm pretty close. I think it has way too much flap throw. If it was a combat plane it would be a killer Lol.

Wayne was also maidening a Cavalier today and I'll include that in my report as well. Right now I'm going to relax a bit.

Nobody's plane came home in a grocery bag.

Aeromodeling is a really fun hobby. So much more, like all of them, than it appears at first look.
As for CF props, I'll leave them to the Big Guys in the Expert Stunt class. They are expensive and I'm not at the level where I could use the small % of added performance gain. And they'll cut your dang finger off Lol.

Thanks for asking. We did okay, not nearly as bad as last October's flood. Just a messy yard and a tense night and day, but we're okay.

The contest is this weekend, and I finally got out to fly and check that my trim is in order. The Twister did well today, despite a blinding sun and howling Northeast wind. I only put up two flights, and gutted out one pattern, aborting OH8s that I would have pushed through if it had been a contest flight. I forgot to put my sunglasses on. So I'm better prepared than I was last October, but not as practiced as I'd hoped to be with the Twister. The Cardinal is my backup. So I'll go fly as well as I can and no doubt have my usual great time. I hope I've got something exciting to tell about after it's in the books.

Here's our contest fleet. Wayne will fly the Tail#1 Cavalier, and mine, of course, is the Tazz.

I talked to Jim Mynes of Florida today. He'll roll into the Super 8 tomorrow and practice all day Friday. That makes four of us in Intermediate so far. Mike, Wayne, Jim and Me.
Somebody's coming home without a trophy!
I need to fly Friday too, I'm still not sure about how heavy I want it up front, so I'll try a flight with a heavy muffler and a tongue to see which is best. I haven't been able to tell since the wind started a few weeks ago. Other than that detail, I'm good to go, and can fly it either way.

We are getting in late tomorrow. We'll be at the field bright and early Friday. It's gonna be a barn burner!

We'll get there at 4 or 5:00 Friday with enough time for a couple of dialing-in flights. It would be nice to get some relaxing patterns in, but Profile on Saturday is good for practice, and it's my favorite event too. And at lunch time and after the event I can probably fly a couple of patterns. too

Looks like Sunday we'll be flying with our back to the sun.
