Speed Plane Tank Size

Speed Plane Tank Size
I am scratch building a speed plane for the contest and plan on using a stock 049 Tee Dee for power. I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of the smallest tank size for the required laps? Brodak has several tanks from 1/3 oz & up.
My plane has a built up Fuse but its only 1/2" wide and I plan on in letting the tank 3/8 ths" into the side, the rest will stick out.
Also if someone has a 049 Tee Dee for sale , please let me know!!

Re: Speed Plane Tank Size
Hi Richard. My T-33 will be powered by a Tee Dee as well. I'm not sure how much fuel will be needed.. but I would think that 1/3oz. would be plenty. 1/3oz. = 9.76cc's. If you have a tank that's at least that size.. you can bench-run the Tee Dee and use a syringe to inject 9cc's of fuel into that tank and time the bench-run.
Below is a vid of Eric's (getback) 2016 entry which used a Tee Dee .049. He had plenty of fuel to complete the required laps. This year, the line-length has been reduced from 42 feet to 35 feet.. which will require more laps to cover the same distance. It seems to me that a 60-second engine-run is more than enough time to complete the circuit. I hope this has been helpful.

Speed Plane Tank Size
Roddy, Thanks for your help, I am going to start with the 7 cc tank that you sent me last year! I'll test it and then go larger if necessary!
Getback...Thanks for your offer, I just bought a good used Tee Dee from Dane Martin, He made me a very good deal!!

Geez.. I'd forgotten that I'd sent you that tank. I hope it works for you. It's a uni-flow.. so be sure to cap the top tube for operation. It passed a leak-test.. but has not been flight-tested.
Those little tanks were fun to make! Hard-soldering can be very enjoyable.
This is my Rare Bear tank..
