Acceleration ring Cox Tee Dee .010

So ... seeing that it works, I want to gain some rpm and always get a good idle, so I started to modify the original opening of the acceleration ring ... in theory, because of the way it should have better acceleration transition, more soft ... tomorrow I make a video .... now I would like it, but again I win early in the morning and it's 3am.

Yes could replicate vintage toy gliders or rubber band power to RC too.

1) In this model do you have three channels? The rudder is fixed, right?
2) What material is the wing ?, Is wood with monokote ?, You have sanding and given profile true?
3) What is the maximum thickness of the wing?
4) Length of fuselage and wingspan?
5) total weight of the model in flight order?

Hi Mauricio,

do you have the photo showing how you have made the cuts into the top fin of the cylinder to receive the wrench? Did you use a Dremel cutter or different tool? I also plan to apply these flats on the top fins of some older cylinders.

Andras:

Here are the tools to practice anchoring the cylinder with your tool.
1) Wooden block with perforation (to properly support the cylinder)
2) lime
3) handle and blade
4) large pin blade or butter spreader blade.
5) Dremel and disc for cutting.
6) Caliber
7) Original key if you have it.

Steps:
1) Place the cylinder firmly on the wooden block.
2) take the exact measurement of the upper ring.
3) transmit that measure to the key to be manufactured.
4) Once you have your mouth on the key, take the key to the cylinder.
5) Mark the cylinder with a blade, (cor where you must reduce)
6) Place the big pin blade, between upper fin and lower cylinder fin, to protect the lower fin, you can also use a butter paddle.
7) If it is a cylinder of Cox Tee Dee .010, it is convenient to use a file, (since the size is very small and the material can easily be removed)
If it is a cylinder of Cox .020 / .049 / .051 and more, use the Dremel cutting disc since it will have greater precision when doing the work, (remember always to protect the lower wing of the cylinder)

Thanks a lot Mauricio for the very good tips.

3) What is the maximum thickness of the wing? (6mm)
4) Length of fuselage and wingspan? (21" wing span / 14.75" fuselage)
5) total weight of the model in flight order? (5.3oz TD .020  / 4.97oz per TD .010)

Here is the design best suited for the TD .020 when using ply for the fuselage.
I would scale it down 10% and use balsa fuselage for more performance with the TD .010
My best TD .010 plane is only 2oz Ready To Fly / RTF / 122 mph (still need to test more 3P prop)
Second best TD .010 plane is only 3oz RTF / 130.4 mph maxed out 4P prop)

For a sporty plane that will perform with the TD .010:
- 36 sq. in wing
- Max 3.5oz RTF
- Thin airfoil to help keep it moving on a stock prop.

You could try lower weight gear for a whole new realm of plane.
3ch version plane could be as low as 2.2oz

Brad, thanks for sharing that video, it's really beautiful ... I can not believe it ... I have it in my hands and that .010 is wonderful.
I wonder what were the real intentions of the creation of the Cox .010 ... maybe the challenge of doing something tiny and that works?
I wonder if for the date he was born, the sale price was the cheapest of the line because it was the smallest, or if it was always, as it is now, it is the smallest but one of the most expensive.

The 010 was priced the same as the 049 and 051...
