Tachometer for cox engines
What is the esiest way to accuratly tch the rpm of cox engines? There a numerous models but what one will really work well and cost the least? Some are laser and other seem tombe needed to be connected to the engine. What would be the best one?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

The laser tachs require a reflective sticker on the prop that screws with the balance, so I would not recommend those. The ones that look through the prop in daylight are the best. Inside the shop, I lower the lights and shine a strong flashlight beam through the prop at the sensor. AC lighting will give a false reading, and I've seen LED flashlights screw with them too. These inexpensive little tachs work great:

I use this one. Tracks up to a 9 blade prop and holds max RPM.
Only $10

I've got the two above and this Glo Bee tach...they all seem to register pretty close together. I've had the Glo Bee for a LONG time, and it's still ticking. It is sort of my favorite because of that I guess, and that it's also easy to hang on to with castored-up fingers!

I use a globee tach and it works great. I am sure the cheaper ones work just as well, but the Globee isn't that expensive. Andy
