Anyone can be injured or killed riding a mini-bike helmet or no. I'll err on the side of caution over taking needless chances. BTW, I always wear leather-palmed riding gloves too.

Wear a full face helmet or open chin helmet with a flip down or snap on eye shield. if you catch a big bug or rock flung from the tire at speed across the bridge of your nose,,you WILL close both eyes, Ask me how I know. With 2 passengers + you, it would be the smart thing to do on that 3 seater Matt. At least some all clear saftey glasses with side shields and upper shields.

As a somewhat vauge sidepoint, Big Daddy Don Garlitz caught a dragonfly on the forehead part of his helmet at about 280MPH going thru the speed traps. it drove his helmet into the rear roll bars and craized the paint on the helmet. With no helmet, it probably would have made him unconcious or possibly outright killed him. Granted you wont be traveling those kinds of speeds with a go-kart, but I think you get the point

At the very least we will use safety glasses.

As an aside to Keith's last point, I find a parallel between wearing a helmet on a motorcycle and wearing a life vest in a boat.

"Why should I wear a life jacket when I know how to swim" I'm often asked.

My answer: "Because you never now the circumstances or when a life jacket will be required."

Personally, I always wear an inflatable "S.O.S." life vest when on the water and have found from personal experience their worth in a boating accident. In one incident I can truely say that it saved me from drowning.

Once on a school trip I go knocked in the head kayaking with a paddle and if I had fallen in the water I wouldnt have known what was happening and would have been able to rely on the orange thing to save me Smile

Yup and if I was wearing a helmet I wouldnt have able to think so there ya go tale all the necessary safety precautions.

I'm afraid that's out of the question. It's just too much.
We have a 5.5 Honda OHV on the other cart, it runs great. On the third one, there is a Subaru Robin which also runs great.
We picked up one of these for $99 on sale -

thanks for the link for that engine, i might have to pick one up for my 200cc mini bike that only went 14mph when it worked lol!

, now to save my money for the motor, change the gearing and see if it can do 30mph lol

The HF engine is 212cc, (6.5HP) and yours is 200cc. (Also 6.5HP). I wouldn't bother replacing it unless something is wrong with it.

You can fix your speed issue by purchasing a smaller sprocket for the wheel. You'll just loose a little torque.

All my friends had mini bikes but out of the question in my family.... Turning 57 this year and rebuilding and old original like in Winginit post is on my bucket list

throttle did not work so my grandfather thought that it was something on this inside not working so we took off the cranckcase cover, then the camshaft came out

Buy "Gramps" an engine repair manual had have him read before working on the engine. Serrious damage was done to the engine because someone didn't know what they were doing. Mad

thanks Dave, i do not know the manufacturer of this engine. It is a 198cc 6.5hp OHV engine, it has a red pull start cover but i doubt that could help with identifying the manufacturer of the engine

Go to. www.northerntool.com and look at their selection of engines. You might be able to identify yours from the pictures or descriptions.

Until the engine is identified you are pretty much out of luck repairing it or obtaining needed parts. Remeber what I said about mechnics being 90% diagnosis?

(BTW, I ran a small engine shop out of my garage for many years)

Those aren't really worth fixing. Your best bet would be to buy another one. I bought a 99cc version of this and it runs great.
